Event Description

Jennifer Holmes, her husband Chris, and the Holmes family, enjoy their growing Apiary and Business, Hani Honey Company, in Stuart Florida.  Jennifer is a UFIFAS Master Beekeeper, UFIFAS Senior Welsh Honey Judge, current President of Florida State Beekeepers Association, and Co-Chair of Slow Food Treasure Coast.  Jennifer is active as a Speaker on many Beekeeping topics, and travels world-wide to continue to learn and contribute positively to the Beekeeping Industry.

Providing Honey, along with Bees, Queens, and  other products of the hive Locally, as well as Pollination Services, are a large part of their current activities.

Support and education in the community to both new and experienced beekeepers, are also a vital part of our Beekeeping practice.

Although Beekeeping is a main component of how Jennifer is received in the community, she maintains a posture of engagement with nature and full spectrum of enjoyment producing ferments from locally foraged, locally grown foods, and a forever passion for food and farmers.
Topic: " Mead Making"
Mead is referred to, historically and culturally, dating back to around 5000 BC, with words, phrases, poems, stories, songs, and of Health, Magic, Vigor, Happiness, Fertility, and more…and drank in vessels like horns and cups or bowls called Mazers and Methers.
Just as grapes are able to have different qualities between varieties, mead flavors can vary depending on floral sources, fermentation ingredients and conditions,  and the breed of bees as well!
Lets enjoy a discussion and demonstration together, about making this ancient brew.

That is good news! I have a wine making kit and I'm going to start another gallon or two after I watch  your video.

I might need to trade a day at work for the next class, so as soon as you have a date on that I appreciate an email on it in case I have to make a trade at work.

Thanks again!

Beverly - yes, session has been video taped and will be posted on website soon. And YES, there will be another mead making class for members who are serious about making their own batch! Most likely end of next month - Eric Baxter is working out details for this one and we will post it as event as soon as everything is set in stone and also will announce it via email blast. So please stay tuned!

All week I looked forward to this meeting. Left work to start the drive across state, and got 2 miles...flat tire. By the time I got all that taken care of it was too late to even try.

Is this session being video'd? I am a newbee at mead making. One batch so far, and I have so many questions.
