I had a large hive I rescued from a property .

Last Sunday I opened up the hive, 2 deep boxes and one shallow box. Lots of honey, lots of bee's and lots brut. I made a new hive with to deep boxes and one shallow box with a queen exluder in between and it is doing great the only concern is lots of bees outside the box entrance, thousand of bees. Daytime they are all working and bringing pollen. The quine is in this hive.

The second hive has 2 deep boxes. I put in 5 frames with honey and brut in the bottom box and the same in the top box. I dumped thousand of bees in the 2 boxes and add the lid. My question is I do not see any action bees coming and going in this hive. Is it normal. Will the make a new queen. How long shall I wait before i will open up the hive and check. Or do i have to buy a queen for the second hive. The frames I removed the honey from I put in my catch boxes and it is lots of action there. I also had 2 frames of lots of drone brut and I stack them in the catch boxes too. Any advise would be great. Thanks Sven

Sven, which hive dosent have a queen needs eggs to make a queen or you can purchase one. The forgers are going back to the original hive because that is when they orientated from.
