Friday May 2, 2014 Club Meeting
Meeting called to order by Vice President Mark Young.
Mark reminded everyone about our busisness board meeting on May 14th asking members to become involved with the board and busisness aspect of our club.
Mark mentioned current plans for the FSBA conference to be held in West Palm and hosted by our club. He also asked members to go to www.beekeepingconference.com and requested comments and suggestions after reding page.
The conference is being planned for October 2nd thru the 4th at the Embassy suites.
Mark handed it over to Sierra (our entertainment director.) Sierra introduced and welcomed our guest speaker, Suzan Lerner. Suzan is a Master Gardner, and President of the P.B. Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council. Suzan spoke about native and non native plants that the bees like and dislike. As beekeepers it is important for us to know what is in bloom, as well as what plants the bees like and dislike. It was an excellent presentation and was recorded for viewing on our site by Gregg Knopp.
After Suzan Lerner's presentation, our State's local bee inspector (newly married) Caitlin Faucett, now Caitlin Gill, gave everyone an overview on the latest State's beekeeping requirements. She went into detail regarding colony sizes and land requirements.
Sierra mentioned that Eric Baxter would be our Guest speaker next month, also future plans to have Dr. Jamie Ellis speak at our club meeting in November are being finalized.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35.
