The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. A quorum was called.
Board meeting minutes were read. Eric made motion to approve minutes, Phil seconded motion, minutes voted and approved.
President’s Report – S Fla. Beekeepers has asked for e-mail list of Club members – to be discussed at later date.
There is need to consider what to do about members’ unwanted hives.
Sept 2 and Nov. 2 meetings will be held in Gallery at Pine Jog Center.
Seed packets & pens shown as possible new items for Club give-aways.
Club will need to appoint new treasurer in November.
Treasurer’s Report – Club meets it non- profit compliance. Non-reconciled balance for May is $redacted. Insurance is paid. All invoices paid to date. Kevin made motion to accept Treasurer’s report and Eric seconded.
Kevin’s report – Club needs approx. 5x5 air-conditioned storage unit for honey storage. Looking for ideas to keep track of volunteer hours
Membership Report – one new member paid at June workshop. Discussion about possibly putting membership list on Club’s private Gmail site.
Gabriela - guest speaker report –potential speakers and costs mentioned for upcoming summer meetings (Dr. Jeffrey Harris, Solomon Parker)
Raffle report – hat/veil took in largest funds for raffle.
T-shirts – invoices submitted for re-stocking of 78 Club t-shirts.
Apiary report – top bar re-established. Currently 1 hive at Pine Jog.
Education and Outreach – framework for education at schools being worked out by Daune Frankenfield using standards of educational goals by state of Florida.
Newsletter – a template has been formed; discussions about format, content, timing and distribution discussed. Newsletter to be e-mail blasted to all members.
FDAC meeting July 21st – will include discussions about declassifying bees as pests.
Gainesville Bee Lab going live and possible donation by Club of $2,000 for observation hive – further information to be obtained and possibility of special meeting for this issue to be voted on by board members.
Discussion about entire website being open to only current paid members and restrictions on non-current paid members of certain information (i.e. videos, etc.)
Membership dues paid via PayPal - slight change needs to be made to signups so that complete ID information is obtained on new members.
Steven Brown presented information and sample of possible new long sleeve Dri-shirts with Club logo & various pricing options. Kevin makes a motion that Club purchase 156 shirts of various sizes from County Tees at $8.25 per shirt. Eric seconded motion. Discussions followed. Unanimous vote carries motion.
It was brought to Club’s attention that PB County property appraiser’s office will soon have a new agriculture director. Kevin makes a motion to form a committee from Club to work with newly appointed Ag inspector to lower the # of hives per acre that will still allow for an Ag exemption. Motion seconded and carried.
