In Timbercreek, in Boca Raton-- they clustered in a ficus bush before moving to a hole in a pine tree, facing the lake.

I think you removed a newly established colony from a tree in my neighborhood-- I spotted that colony in the process of swarming (it was the first swarm I have ever seen in action) and sat underneath the cluster until they decided where to make their home, so I could follow them. I left a note in the property owner's mailbox with info and suggesting that they call a local beekeeper instead of a pest control company. I'm glad they did.
